Space Cleansing and Rituals

Every culture has its own set of space cleansing rituals, yet in modern society, many of these practices are often overlooked. While the word Ritual is generally associated with religious or spiritual practices, it broadly refers to “a series of actions or a type of behaviour regularly and invariably followed by someone.” In reality, every individual, across all cultures, engages in daily routines or habits that evolve into personal rituals, consciously or unconsciously.

Chinese culture, in particular, is renowned for its rich tapestry of customs and rituals. These practices are designed not only to preserve tradition but also to enhance health, nurture relationships, attract prosperity, and bring harmony to daily life.

Some of the most common practices include rituals for:

Moving-in   (入宅 and 旺 宅)
Energy Clearing (化煞)
Renovations (开工)
Breaking Ground (動土)
Official Opening (开市)
Enshrine (安神)

These rituals are preferably done :

  • Pre and post construction or renovations
  • Before the commencement of a new business
  • When moving to a new home

It is important to note that rituals may be performed independently of Feng Shui, as they constitute a distinct and standalone practice.
